5.Brown University

If you’re looking for a rigorous education and a degree that will carry currency with employers in and beyond the teaching profession, Brown University is a great option. At the bachelor’s level, students can pursue a bachelor’s in educational studies, but bear in mind, on its own, this program will not certify you to teach. The good news is that there are two options undergraduates can pursue to become certified teachers. First, there is the UTEP (University Teacher Education Program), which students in any major can complete simultaneous to their major. Second, students can opt to enroll in Brown University’s 5th-Year Master’s Option, which leads to a master of arts in teaching as well. Brown University’s education students report exceptionally high scores on the state’s required teacher licensure exams.

6.Roger Williams University

At Roger Williams University there is a long tradition of training teachers and today’s students benefit from this history.  At the bachelor’s level, students can pursue degrees leading to teacher licensure at either the elementary or secondary levels; the program also offers a middle school certificate (anyone who completes the elementary program or secondary program, can add middle school certification by completing an additional three courses). Elementary and secondary education majors at Roger Williams University complete at least 100 hours of supervised practicum work and a full semester of teaching prior to graduation, which means the university’s graduates do well on all required teacher licensure exams and enter the teaching job market well prepared.
